Governing Insurance Policy

Effective: 01.01.2026

Last updated: 22.03.2026

Version: 1.0

This policy defines the insurance framework for users of the Tweggo platform and clarifies responsibilities between Hosts, Renters, Tweggo, and licensed insurance partners.

Tweggo operates solely as a technology intermediary and does not underwrite, issue, or adjudicate insurance.

Insurance contracts are between users and independent Insurance Partners under partner-specific terms and conditions.

Scope and Allocation of Risk

  • Insurance services available through Tweggo are provided by licensed third-party insurers.
  • Policy validity, limits, exclusions, and claim outcomes are determined exclusively by the Insurance Partner.
  • Users are responsible for reviewing full policy wording, eligibility requirements, and exclusions before each trip.

Coverage Structure

  • Available products may include comprehensive cover, third-party liability, trip-specific insurance, personal accident cover, and optional protection plans.
  • Coverage can vary by vehicle, renter profile, trip parameters, geography, underwriting model, and regulation.
  • Coverage may require confirmed booking, successful payment, verified eligibility, and full compliance with policy conditions.

Host Responsibilities

  • Hosts must maintain valid, suitable insurance for listed vehicles and keep insurance details accurate and current.
  • Hosts must disclose policy changes, cancellations, or material risk changes without delay.
  • Failure to comply may lead to claim denial, account enforcement, or personal liability for losses.

Renter Responsibilities

  • Renters must meet all eligibility rules and comply with legal, platform, and policy requirements.
  • Incidents must be reported immediately and procedural claim obligations must be followed.
  • Renters may be responsible for excess, uninsured losses, excluded events, and additional recovery costs.

Claims Process

  • Claims must be filed directly with the relevant Insurance Partner within required timelines.
  • Tweggo may provide administrative support and operational data to assist claims handling.
  • Tweggo does not guarantee settlement outcomes and is not financially responsible for claim decisions.

Legal Compliance and Jurisdiction

  • Users must comply with insurance, traffic, licensing, and cross-border legal requirements.
  • Policy is governed by Kenyan law with disputes subject to competent courts in Kenya where applicable.
  • Continued platform use constitutes acceptance of policy updates and revised terms.
